Overview of Clinical Trials

According to the FDA, a clinical trial is “a research study in human volunteers to answer specific health questions. Carefully conducted clinical trials are the safest and fastest way to find treatments that work in people and new ways to improve health.”

Why are clinical trials done?

Clinical trials are generally conducted to determine the safety and effectiveness of a new drug or device, but may also be conducted for a variety of other reasons.
